Lately, we’ve been discussing active and passive ways to reduce stress and achieve restful, deep-healing sleep …
Like using Binaural Beats designed to get you into that relaxed Alpha brainwave state. They’re awesome!
So check out The Lazy Way to Shed Stress for the full conversation, if you haven’t already …
They’re free or low cost, instantly accessible, and require little effort on your part …
However, Binaural Beats only work on your head, not your body …
Well, there’s no question that you harbor stress in your body that needs to come out, too ...
So if you really want to passively discharge stress - and I mean drain it all out - there’s another way …
This one uses Sound to heal your body, acoustic or technology based …
It’s a type of therapy called “Sound Healing,” and there are different methods you can try that work great for stress relief, better sleep, or both.
The first time I tried Sound Healing the shift from fight or flight mode (sympathetic) to a restful healing state (parasympathetic) was so complete that I had to go to bed immediately.
That night I slept like a rock and woke up feeling pretty damn rejuvenated. You can’t beat it.
Since then, I’ve tried many different methods for healing with sound, and the one I find most effective creates a full-body AND full-brain experience with absolutely zero work on your part.
It’s technology based, so all you do is plug yourself into this thing and lay around for 30 minutes to reach a completely altered, blissful state:
Your sense of self and time disappears ...
You’re not thinking of the past or the future …you’re just there …
In the moment … in the present … DRIFTING ...
Afterwards, you feel like all the stress you’ve been carrying in your body has been completely “wrung out” … like you just had a full body and brain reset.
It’s like the end of the best two-week summer vacation you’ve ever had - on a tropical island in the water and sun every day!
Again, the method I like is technology based, which means it requires a special device called Human Sound, or “HUSO” for short.
It delivers uniquely-enhanced human toning sounds through headphones and special vibrating pads placed on your major acupuncture meridians.
These holistic sound tones create a natural resonance in your bodily systems that counteract the harmful effects of stress you are exposed to during the day.
This leaves you with...
1. A clear head
2. Improved health & immune system
3. Better sleep
4. A feeling of calmness and well-being
Both the headphones and pads deliver specific modulated frequencies that work throughout your body, balancing and harmonizing …
It’s like hitting a perfectly pitched tuning fork for your entire body!
And like I said, the best part is you don’t have to do a thing.
You literally just sit or lie there while the sounds rebalance you.
Now, as I said before, there are many different ways to destress via Sound Healing …
For example, I had the chance to attend an acoustic sound healing session at a famous spot in L.A. - there were thousands and thousands of dollars of acoustic sounding equipment all in one special room …
It was great, and I was super relaxed afterwards, BUT …
The effect wasn’t as strong as with the HUSO, which sends vibrations throughout your whole body AND brain.
As a result, the effect is more complete. In other words …
You're not just listening, you're feeling and experiencing the healing frequencies.
If you enjoy it like I think you will, there are other programs on the HUSO you “tune” yourself with you can try besides just Stress Release … like Energy, Focus, or Clarity ...
But in my opinion, we live in an over-stimulated, overstressed society, so the stress-discharging programs are my go-to for a reset.
Like most of the DIY health tips we’ve discussed, it’s all natural and easy to use just unfortunately NOT super inexpensive - this one is a decent-sized investment …
AND if it’s not your thing, keep an eye out for a sound healing event near you soon – it’s worth the experience - indoors or out!
“Tune” in next time for pt. 2: of our “Healthy Sounds Good” series to learn why you might need to get outside and hug the nearest tree ….
For a second surprising way to reduce stress using Sound ...
‘Til Then … To Your Better Health,
