How to Survive the Holidays (pt. 4):
Rudolf the “Radioactive” Reindeer?

Welcome Back!

So far, we’ve covered Holiday “Burnout” and how to protect yourself from the dangers of commercial air travel, including some easy ways to stay hydrated and oxygenated on long flights...

Because you do NOT want to miss out on today’s conversation …

It just may save your life!

Seriously …

Even if you don’t fly all that much over the Holidays, every mile you do fly adds up.
And I’m not talking about bonus rewards here; I’m talking about the silent killer:

Radiation.

Paying attention now? Good.

Now, let’s talk about mileage for a minute, in this context:
If You Fly From ...

New York to London, you receive the equivalent of 1 chest x-ray ...
New York to Tokyo, you receive the equivalent of 2 chest x-rays …

To be fair, for most people, this will only slightly raise their lifetime cancer risk ...

BUT if you're someone suffering from stress or Burnout - acute or chronic - your cells are already furiously treading water …

Your body is already trying desperately to keep up with the overload of cytokine-induced free radicals produced by your immune system.

When you add ionizing radiation streaking through your body, causing even more free radical damage to your cells, it can be a tipping point …

Stress becomes Acute Burnout, and Acute Burnout becomes Chronic Burnout.

At the very least, the higher doses of radiation received while flying make jet lag worse and contribute to that "beat up" feeling at the end of a long flight we’ve talked about.

Airline crew workers have much higher rates of cancer, on average, especially melanoma.

It’s why they are classified as “Radiation Workers” by the Centers For Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

In 2009, a report by the NCRPM stated that air crews receive the highest yearly dose of radiation of any radiation-exposed workers in the US ...

YES, even more than nuclear reactor workers!

AND this is not EMF, or electro-magnetic radiation, we're talking about.
We’re not talking about cell phone radiation here, either …

We’re talking about Ionizing Radiation, the same type you would get from a dentist's X-ray - with a lead blanket covering you!

This type of radiation streaks through your cells, directly causing free radical injury that accelerates cellular aging and damages your mitochondria and DNA.

You're exposed to ionizing radiation while flying because you're above most of the earth's protective atmosphere being bombarded by cosmic rays.

It’s enough to make ya wonder why Rudolf’s “red “nose glowed in the dark, huh?
But, seriously ...
Here’s what you need to know …

Radiation Exposure & Flying:

1. Higher altitudes mean higher radiation exposure

2. You are most exposed on flights near the poles

3. All flights have some level of exposure

In the short term, it means you end up at your Holiday destination fatigued, grumpy, and tired.

So, if you don’t want to be a Scrooge this season and you absolutely have to fly …

Drink hydrogen rich water during your flight

That's it, short of flying wrapped in your dentist's lead blanket.

Seriously, that’s all you need to do; furthermore, it’s all you CAN do!

Studies show Hydrogen protects your cells by neutralizing the free radical Hydroxyl created by ionizing radiation.

Hydrogen is so tiny and energetic that it travels deep inside the cell. There it stops radiation damage from happening, exactly where it happens.

Other antioxidants are too big to pull this off – they simply can’t get to where they’re needed the most.

Don’t worry … It’s drop dead simple to rejuvenate your cells with hydrogen.

Right before takeoff, I drop two hydrogen water tablets into my water bottle and watch them fizz away. I kick back knowing the harmful radiation I’m getting isn't further damaging my already travel-stressed cells.
